My Last Week

This is my last week at Florida Exterminating Co/Middleton Lawn and Pest Control. It's a hard change for me but I look forward to working at Forever Beautiful, First Home Realty, my boss (David Burke @ Burke Home Services), doing small jobs for Sherry's Yesterdays, spending more time on my own company (Skye, skyebeds.com)and spending more time working for BGoSH as the new Event Committee Chair person. The first half of this year was an emotional roller coaster, I hope this next half will be eaiser. Get ready to see me all over the neighborhood.

A burglar broke into a house one night. An Angel Named "Bo"

Last night I talked to an old girlfriend now living in Orlando. I have thought of her many times, wonder where she was and what she was doing. I've missed her. Come to find out she has been looking for me for over 20 years. Yesterday she was going to give up if this last try didn't work. Her search led her to the Seminole Heights Lost and Found blog site where she read about Bo, Merino's Deli and thought "this just has to be my Renee." She emailed me and we talked for over an hour.

Bo is an angel with 4 legs. Here's why.
He is the reason the Seminole Heights Lost and Found blog was started.
The people who love him, found him.
My friend (in Orlando) found the site.
She found our neighborhood.

MOSI and wet zoning

I was not able to attend the City Council meeting on January 25, 2007. I hadn’t read through the agenda the day before and missed item #77. But, I and several of my coworkers watched it on line. I’m not sure if I’m reading the transcript correctly or not. Does anyone have the answers to these questions? Has it been put off for one week (till 2/1/07) and may the public address this issue?
There are several coworkers along with myself, that think wet zoning MOSI is a very bad idea. This a teaching facility, please don’t let them sell alcohol of any kind. I can understand having beer (ale) at the renaissance festival, that was part of the culture, but not in the museum building. There are too many children that would be exposed to the inconsiderate adult who uses unsuitable language, the adult who abuses their children when they drink and the occasional beer brawl because someone cut in front of them in line. Some people don’t realize they are allergic to alcohol and they react this way when drinking.
This is not what we consider a wise decision on the museums part.

12:04:11 >>REBECCA KERT: Legal department.
12:04:13 City Council requested that this be continued for one
12:04:14 week for us to try to provide an alternative to give
12:04:18 City Council some assurances about this wet zoning.
12:04:22 City Council probably recalls this is the third time
12:04:25 requesting a permanent wet zoning on this site.
12:04:27 Two years ago they came in for permanent wet zoning
12:04:29 and were advised that they in fact did not have the
12:04:31 correct zoning.
12:04:32 They were granted a continuance that year and advised
12:04:35 to come back the next year requesting permanent, in
12:04:39 conjunction with the rezoning request.
12:04:40 They did that last year.
12:04:42 In fact, rezoning changed.
12:04:44 However, at the public hearing it came to everyone's
12:04:47 attention that the wet zoning would dry up.
12:04:51 They were going to another conditional and City
12:04:53 Council asked staff and legal department to come back
12:04:55 with an amendment to chapter 3, which would address
12:04:58 situations such as MOSI that have only part-time
12:05:05 providing cultural benefits to the community.
12:05:07 We did that and City Council approved that amendment.
12:05:09 So currently, public parks facilities, which this is
12:05:13 one, are not subject to chapter 390 provisions.
12:05:17 I would like to call it to City Council's attention
12:05:20 that they are a 4(COP-X).
12:05:24 However because they need waivers the sale of
12:05:26 alcoholic beverages must always be incidental to the
12:05:29 primary use of business.12:05:31 If council needs additional assurances we could add a12:05:34 condition to the wet zoning ordinance which sites that
12:05:38 the sale of alcoholic beverages must be incidental to
12:05:41 the use of the facility of the public facility.
12:05:45 I have a draft of that ordinance ready today if that's
12:05:49 the wish of City Council.
12:05:50 >>SHAWN HARRISON: And that would allow to all of the
12:05:52 land zoned here.
12:05:54 So, for instance, I think it's all owned by
12:05:57 Hillsborough County anyway.
12:06:00 But if Hillsborough County decided to sell off a
12:06:02 little sliver somewhere, how would that impact that
12:06:06 little piece of land?
12:06:07 Because it still had the wet zoning but would still
12:06:10 have that condition that no matter what that sliver is
12:06:13 you have to have an agricultural center there or else
12:06:15 you can't sell alcohol?
12:06:16 >> The wet zoning would have to be amended.
12:06:24 >> As long as we are protected.
12:06:26 >> And I don't believe you took public comment.

As a service to Tampa residents, City of Tampa Television (CTTV) will be televising candidates forums for the 2007 City of Tampa general election, which takes place on March 6, 2007. The League of Women Voters of Hillsborough County produces the forums in an effort to help the public become better informed about the candidates that are running for political office. Candidates for Tampa Mayor and City Council Districts 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7, will gather at the CTTV studio to discuss the issues that are important to the area. There will be no forum for City Council District 3, as that seat remains unopposed. Panelists for the forums include members from local newspapers, radio, television and community organizations.

The forums will debut on City of Tampa Television, Channel 15 on Verizon Fios and Bright House Networks, beginning on Friday, February 2, at 8 a.m.

The complete listing of candidate forums is as follows: Mayor Sundays at 9 p.m., Fridays at 8 a.m. and Saturdays at 4 p.m.

City Council, District 1 Sundays at 10 p.m., Mondays at 11 a.m. and Saturdays at 5 p.m.

City Council, District 2 Sundays at 3 p.m., Mondays at 8 a.m., and Fridays at 7 p.m.

This is the time of year when we remember the birth of Christ. Have you gotten a present for him? This year I'm starting a tradition, I'm giving Christ a gift. Here's how it works.

Christmas Eve I'll write down a bad habit I want to change or attitude that I don't like or anger at something/someone. I'll wrap it in a small box and hang it on the tree. I'll remember that gift that was written and work on the change. That will be my gift to Christ.
